Gorloks Score 10 Straight Runs To Defeat Titans

Webster University (Mo.) scored 10 unanswered runs to claim a 10-2 victory over the UW-Oshkosh baseball team on Wednesday (March 18) in Sauget, Ill.

Every Gorlok starter had at least one hit in Webster University's home opener. Blake Thomas went 3-for-3 to pace the Gorloks' 13-hit attack.

Webster University starting pitcher Isaac Behme earned the win by allowing two runs (one earned) in five innings pitched. He ceded six hits and two walks while striking out three.

UW-Oshkosh's John Eagan and Logan Reckert began the game with consecutive singles. Eagan came around to score on a single by Robbie Kleman. Reckert crossed the plate for a 2-0 Titan lead when Webster University's second baseman committed a throwing error while attempting to complete a potential inning-ending double play at first base.

Webster University (7-4) manufactured one run in the bottom of the first inning on two walks, one stolen base, one wild pitch and a run-scoring groundout by Kyle Uhrich.

The Gorloks took the lead for good with a three-run second inning. Alec Bahnick and Mike Golich had consecutive run-scoring singles before Thomas Blake gave Webster University a 4-2 advantage with a sacrifice fly.

Webster University added one run in the third inning, two in the fifth, one in the sixth and two in the eighth.

Dylan Rajkovich gave the Gorloks a 7-2 lead with a two-run home run in the fifth inning. Uhrich added sacrifice flies in the sixth and eighth innings and ended the contest with a team-high three runs batted in. Jeff Kammer plated the final run with a groundout in the eighth inning.

Kleman and Reckert both owned two of UW-Oshkosh's seven hits.

UW-Oshkosh starting pitcher Troy Mannebach took the loss by allowing four runs in 1.1 innings pitched.

Webster University, which has won of 101 of its last 121 home games, has participated in the NCAA Division III Championship eight times in the last nine seasons. The Gorloks, ranked 22nd in the NCAA Division III by D3baseball.com, increased their winning streak to six games.

The Titans (0-4) begin their eight-game Florida trip by playing Springfield College (Mass.) on Friday (March 20) in Winter Haven.
