Titans Tame The Terriers

Joe Pavlovich allowed just four hits in eight shutout innings as UW-Oshkosh defeated the Thomas College (Maine) baseball team, 11-0, on Thursday (March 27) in Winter Haven, Fla.

Aided by double plays in the seventh and eighth innings, Pavlovich (2-0) faced only 27 batters, three over the minimum. He retired the first 12 Thomas College batters before Tim Locke led off the fifth inning with an infield single. Pavlovich finished his service with seven strikeouts and one walk.

Brandon Hughes pitched a hitless ninth inning for the Titans. He faced four batters, with two of them erased on UW-Oshkosh's third double play of the game.

Robbie Kleman had four run-scoring hits to lead UW-Oshkosh at the plate. He drove in runs with singles in the first, second and eighth innings and another with a double in the fourth.

UW-Oshkosh (6-1) ended the game with 13 hits, as Trey Demler, Bobby Kachel and Tyler Kozlowski each recorded two.

UW-Oshkosh took control early as it scored five runs on four hits in the first inning. In addition to Kleman's run-scoring single, the Titans also received a run-scoring single by Demler, a two-run triple by Jake Dostalek and a run-scoring sacrifice bunt by Neil Hebert.

The Titans made the score 7-0 with two runs in the second inning. UW-Oshkosh tallied its runs on a double by Kachel and a single by Kleman.

UW-Oshkosh added three more runs in the fourth inning to reach double-figure scoring for the third consecutive game. The Titans scored on a single by Kozlowski and back-to-back doubles by Kleman and Demler.

UW-Oshkosh closed its scoring on Kleman's single in the eighth inning.

Thomas College (0-7), a first-time opponent of UW-Oshkosh, finished the game with four hits. The Terriers were led by the two hits from Locke.

CJ Pendleton took the pitching loss after hurling the first five innings Thomas College. He allowed 10 runs (five earned) and nine hits before being replaced by Rett Adams in the sixth, Dylan McNally in the eighth and Tyler Keller in the ninth.

UW-Oshkosh plays a doubleheader against the University of Chicago (Ill.) on Friday (March 28) in Auburndale, Fla.
