UW-Oshkosh Athletics To Hold Blood Drive

UW-Oshkosh Athletics To Hold Blood Drive

The UW-Oshkosh Athletics Department, in conjunction with The Community Blood Center, will hold a blood drive in the parking lot of UW-Oshkosh's Kolf Sports Center from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 24).

The UW-Oshkosh Athletics Blood Drive is in honor of Phoenix Bridegroom. Bridegroom, an 11-year old from Indiana, has battled lymphoblastic leukemia three times over the past six years and is currently in remission. She has needed more than 100 blood products during her treatments and the Titans are looking to have 35 pints donated during the drive in her honor.

To donate on Saturday, consider contacting Kelli VanderWielen at the Community Blood Center at (920) 585-0196 or kvanderwielen@communityblood.org to secure a spot. You can also sign-up online here. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome.

General guidelines say blood donors much be at least 17 years old (16 with parental permission in Wisconsin), and should drink lots of water and eat a hearty meal prior to donating. Please also have a photo ID available.

The Community Blood Center provides blood to 17 Wisconsin and Michigan hospitals. As a nonprofit, they are committed to serving people by providing a reliable blood supply for these hospitals.
