223 Titans Mentioned On WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll

The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) recognized 223 UW-Oshkosh student-athletes for achieving a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) or higher during the 2016-17 academic year.

UW-Oshkosh's selections to this year's WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll featured 116 student-athletes coming from the 11 women’s teams and 107 from the eight men’s squads. Student-athletes in multiple sports were counted only once.

UW-Oshkosh had 14 student-athletes earn a perfect 4.0 GPA - Andy Brahier from baseball; Sean Dwyer from men's basketball; Kristen Linzmeier from women's cross country and track & field; LeRocman Hall, Branden Lloyd and Jake Thein from football; Kayla Priebe from women's golf; Valene Knutson from women's gymnastics; Natalie Dillon, Amanda McIlhany, Abby Menting and Lauren Torborg from softball; Katie Hodges and Kimberly Schwobe from women's volleyball; and Josh Becker from wrestling.

In addition, UW-Oshkosh had 13 more student-athletes reach or surpass a 3.90 GPA. That group included Jake Homan (3.96), Neal Ori (3.91) and Logan Reckert (3.97) from baseball; Chloe Pustina (3.94) from women's basketball; Beau Ash (3.91) and Turner Geisthardt (3.96) from football; Laura Stair (3.96) from women's golf; Baylee Tkaczuk (3.90) from women's gymnastics; Brianna Witter (3.96) from softball and women's volleyball; Hannah Peters (3.96) from women's tennis; Hunter Effa (3.93) from men's track & field; Melissa Srnka (3.97) from women's track & field; and McKenna Scott (3.93) from women's volleyball.

Overall, UW-Oshkosh's 456 student-athletes combined for a 2.97 GPA. The women’s tennis team led the way with a 3.43 GPA while women's basketball followed at 3.41; softball at 3.37 and women's gymnastics at 3.36.
