Overview

The Academic Game Plan (AGP) is a collaborative approach to supporting and recognizing excellence in student achievement, academic success and personal growth.

The AGP is informed by the academic and athletic missions of the University in support of the NCAA Division III philosophy, which places the highest priority on the overall quality of the educational experience and on the successful completion of all students’ academic programs.

AGP in UW-Oshkosh Today

The Academic Game Plan

Partnering for Student Success: The AGP is based on a web of partnerships between athletics and existing resource centers and services for student success to identify, track, and assist student-athletes to achieve their academic goals.

Connecting with Faculty: A key component of the AGP is the direct involvement of faculty and instructional staff with each team, its coaching staff and with individual student-athletes. UW-Oshkosh professors help student-athletes understand what it takes to be academically successful at UW-Oshkosh and they take a personal interest in each athlete’s success. These “Team Fellows” are cheerleaders for the their student-athletes on and off the field.

Recognizing Academic Achievement: The AGP recognizes achievement in the classroom with an award focused on academic merit. Student-athletes who have at least two full seasons of participation in their sport prior to graduation with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above are eligible for a UW-Oshkosh Scholar Athlete award at graduation.

Team Fellows

Team Fellows are faculty and staff members who are part of their ‘adoptive’ team. The Team Fellows program started with five teams in the 2016-2017 academic year: Women’s Golf, Men’s Swimming & Diving, Women’s Volleyball, Women’s Tennis and Men’s Wrestling. As of the 2023-24 academic year, all 20 UW-Oshkosh teams have at least one Team Fellow.
