Titans Have Family Members Introduce Basketball Starting Lineups
The 2020-21 basketball season has been extremely successful in terms of wins and losses for the UW-Oshkosh men (4-1 record) and women (5-1) but enormously challenging for a variety of reasons.
Last week, in an attempt to bring some additional excitement to UW-Oshkosh's games in Kolf Sports Center, each Titan basketball starter got a surprise from home for their introduction against UW-Stevens Point.
Instead of public address announcer Michael Patton introducing the Titans' starting lineup against the UW-Stevens Point women on Feb. 17 and the Pointer men on Feb. 19, each UW-Oshkosh starter from the men's and women's program had their name introduced by their families.
Each UW-Oshkosh program enlisted the help of their players' parents, giving them the chance to make a short video introducing their son or daughter as a starter. The videos were something that began with NBA teams when the players were away from their families in the NBA bubble in Orlando, Fla. UW-Oshkosh then borrowed the idea and Athletics Social Media & Event Promotions Manager Ashlynn Schreiner put the starting lineup video together.
The UW-Oshkosh starters didn't know this was happening until all the videos played on the huge Kolf Sports Center video board before tipoff.
It was indeed a great boost in morale and a great week to be a Titan!
