I Am A Titan
“I Am A Titan” is a monthly selection of student-athletes, alumni, community members and faculty and staff members who share unique connections to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Being a Titan is about more than those in black and yellow on game day. It is about a connection that lives inside of each one of us.
Listen in as student-athletes share why being a Titan is important to them, as alumni share how being a Titan has impacted their lives, and as faculty and staff talk about how being a Titan aides in building role models. The stories and connections are endless.

I Am A Titan, Claire Emmerich (May 2015)
Women's Basketball player and chemistry major, Claire Emmerich is our featured "I Am A Titan" for May.
"Being a Titan is getting a degree and being able to compete in a sport. We're all here because we're passionate and determined."
I Am A Titan, Molly Zahour (March 2015)
Molly Zahour '10, is a former member of Swimming & Diving Team and a Nurse Practitioner with the Neuro Endovascular Team at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee.
"Swimming made me a better student. You connect on such a different level because you're working mentally and physically so hard; you're all in school, you're all under time crunches and it's a bond you just cannot match."
I Am A Titan, Jill Endries (February 2015)
Jill Endries, UW-Oshkosh Director of Admissions, is February's featured "I Am A Titan".
Jill has been an integral part of the UW-Oshkosh fabric for more than 30 years and has witnessed the transformation of the campus and the constant dedication and hard work of UW-Oshkosh students.
"When I talk to student-athletes, I tell them I'll probably see you on the field, on the court or wherever it is that you're performing. But the stage I want to see you on is the graduation stage. I want to see you when you walk across that."
I Am A Titan, Katy Werginz (November 2014)
Katy Werginz '09, is a former member of the Women's Soccer team and November's featured I Am A Titan. In 2001, Katy graduated high school, enrolled at UW-Oshkosh and enlisted in the Army National Guard. Later that year, her unit was activated and sent to Fort Bragg. She eventually returned to UWO after two separate tours of duty overseas to complete her education and rejoin the Women's Soccer team. Thank you for your service, Katy - you truly represent what it means to be a Titan!

Clash The Titan is October's featured I Am THE Titan. It's pretty easy to understand what being a Titan means to Clash, but we took a stab at an interview anyways!
I Am A Titan, Eamon McKenna (September 2014)
Men's Cross Country and Track & Field Head Coach, Eamon McKenna is September's featured I Am A Titan. "We're here to make our community and our world a better place... and that's something that we push consistently."
I Am A Titan, Bre Strupp (April 2014)
Bre Strupp is April's featured I Am A Titan. Strupp, a member of the UW-Oshkosh women's track & field team, is a three-time national champion, five-time WIAC champion and a senior elementary and special education major. "You come in as individuals, but you leave as a team. If you do your best, your team is going to be amazing."
I Am A Titan, Bob & Shirley White (March 2014)
Bob and Shirley White are March's featured I Am A Titan. Shirley is a retired associate professor of physical education, and the wife of longtime UW-Oshkosh men's basketball coach Bob White. "I yelled my head off at every game I ever went to. Still do!"
I Am A Titan, Nazar Kulchytskyy (February 2014)
Nazar Kulchytskyy, a two-time NCAA Division III champion wrestler, is February's featured I Am A Titan. A native of Sosnivka, Ukraine, Nazar displays his Titan pride on the mat and in the classroom. "For me, to be a Titan is a big privilege - to be a good student, to be a good athlete, and be a good role model for the younger generation."
I Am A Titan, Burk Tower (January 2014)
Burk Tower, mayor of the City of Oshkosh, is January's featured I Am A Titan. Burk has a long-time relationship with UW-Oshkosh, serving as a faculty member for 33 years and a faculty athletic representative for 19 years. "It's the perfect size institution; it offers everything a large institution offers, and yet it's small enough that students and faculty can get involved in a lot of different activities."
I Am A Titan, Claudia Rivera (December 2013)
Claudia Rivera is a senior communications studies major and member of the Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority at UW-Oshkosh. "Just being around people; being around the different cultures; international students that go here - I like it a lot - it's different - and I like that."
I Am A Titan, John Erickson (November 2013)
John Erickson is a 2009 graduate of UW-Oshkosh and former member of the Men's Volleyball Club Team, and is this month's featured I Am A Titan. "I think back upon these memories, and I think about all the great things I accomplished, and what I'm doing now, and where I am, and that's all because I was a Titan."
I Am A Titan, Morgan Counts (October 2013)
Morgan Counts is a senior on the women's tennis team and is this month's featured I Am A Titan. Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 8, Morgan has not allowed anything to stand in the way of playing the sport she loves, and sharing her passion with younger kids. "It's fun to give our skills - as athletes - back to the community."
I Am A Titan, Cole Myhra (September 2013)
Cole Myhra, a senior running back on the Titan football team, is this month's featured I Am A Titan. His dedication to the sport he loves and commitment to paying it forward makes Cole the perfect role model for his peers. "Football is a huge part of my life beyond the game. It's more of what you're doing in the community and how it teaches you to be a leader in the workplace."
I Am A Titan, Darryl Sims (August 2013)
This month's selection is Darryl Sims, Director of Athletics for UW-Oshkosh, who has been in the position since 2010 and is a former NFL player and coach. "I talk quite a bit to our coaches about giving back to our community and the civic-engagement aspects of what we do, making sure our student-athletes understand the value of being a part of our community."
I Am A Titan, Wayne "Super Fan" Zweig (July 2013)
Super Fan, a 1973 alum, is not only active at athletic events. He also is an avid "fan" of the arts. "I've garnered the same title of 'Super Fan' at the music department, and it's also for the fact that I attend just about all of their concerts and many, if not most, of their recitals they put on...It's about the pride of being a Titan."
I Am A Titan, Krystal Walker (June 2013)
Krystal Walker, a current gymnastics student-athlete who just completed her freshman year, hails from Chicago, Ill. "It is not about your individual scores. It's really a team atmosphere. UWO is like a home. It's a big responsibility to be an athlete. We are a big part of the school." Walker earned three All-America awards during the 2012-2013 season.
I Am A Titan, Dave Krause (May 2013)
Dave Krause, a former UW-Oshkosh men's basketball student-athlete, graduated from UWO in 1989. In 2011, he returned to campus to take on a new role of Director of Alumni Relations and Development in the College of Business. "When you are here, you are a Titan. When you graduate, you are a Titan... We are all part of a family."
I Am A Titan, Brenna Garrison-Bruden (April 2013)
Brenna Garrison-Bruden, a UW-Oshkosh alumna, is the principal at Carl Traeger Elementary School. She graduated from the College of Education, had a job before she graduated and has been happily working ever since. She partners with various groups on the UWO campus to be the training grounds for future teachers.
I Am A Titan, Jesse Klein (March 2013)
Jesse Klein, an exercise science major, is a four-time letter winner with the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team. He is also plays a major role in the school's student organization, "Black and Yellows."
